How Professionals Design a Logo

No two men have the same attributes. Similarly, no two men could have the same mentality and approach. That is why different people do different jobs with different proficiency. But one thing is certain: all businessmen employ some identical techniques to progress. One prominent and predefined technique to progress in any type of business is to have a good logo.

Every business manager knows how important it is to utilize a presentation technique that can win over customers. However, not everyone can design a logo. An amateur can design anything using software, but it can be easily distinguished from a professionally-designed logo because professionals use certain design procedures.

There is a protocol for every job. Likewise, there is a design process for making a logo but the process and procedure vary from mind to mind. There are numerous aspects that are taken into consideration while designing a logo because it is about more than just customer satisfaction. A customer could be satisfied with any attractive design, but there are many other attributes required for a business to progress.

Here are some steps that most designers take while designing a logo.

1. Design Brief

No matter how good the designer is, it is important to first and foremost look into the design brief provided by the customer. A design brief contains all the details of the design desired by your client. There is no doubt that everyone has different requirements and taste, so taking the brief from the customer is as important as designing skills. You may be the best designer, but if the client doesn’t like something in your clever design, it will ruin your first shot and maybe you will have to redo it. The customer is the one who is paying, so if the design is not according to his brief, then no doubt the designer will have to remake it.

2. Research

Designers have the experience to provide designs, but they are pressurized to follow all steps by the expectations and requirements of the customers. If the customer is not providing all of the details, it is the designer’s job to know what is necessary for the logo. If the customer has a company with a past, the designer must take influence from previous logos and carry the same theme since it is almost impossible to bring a new face while the rest of the theme differs. The designer should not only get information about the client’s company, but also his rivals because a logo is made to represent the company and distinguish it from the competition. Clients and amateur designers may not know the significance of inquiring about rivals, but an expert designer always knows that the competitor’s weaknesses are his strengths.

3. Design Concept

After gathering information, the designer should not directly start making a logo. Instead, he must think about the information gathered and come up with a creative idea or concept that could be the leading attribute of the customer’s business. A design is merely a piece of art unless it has an idea with respect to the company.

4. Design Implementation

The element that makes a design successful is its clever concept which stems from a creative idea coupled with good implementation skills. This is the stage where the designer works with his concept and gives it a concrete shape. The color and shapes should look appropriate as this plays a huge role in the success of the design.

5. Feedback

The design is useless if the customer doesn’t like it, so it is necessary to get his feedback every step of the way. If a design is presented at the very end, the customer could reject it and ask for a remake, ruining all your hard work and time spent on it.

6. Presentation

Good presentation skills are must for a successful design. Present it like it is best for his business and explain how the logo can promote sales and progress.
